Our ministry

Fusion is a project we launched launched under Josiah Venture in January 2009. The primary aim of Fusion is to help local churches reach out to un-churched youth through a network of youth rock/gospel choirs and performing arts groups, each which is based in and run by a local church. During weekly rehearsals, the youth hear the gospel message and see Christ at work in the leaders and other Christian members. This ministry is already helping 8 local churches in the Czech Republic and Latvia reach over 280 teens every week. Many of these have already put their faith in Christ and become active members of the local church community. God is now leading this ministry to expand all through Eastern Europe, including both year-round projects and music/performing arts "rock camps" and workshops.

Below is a short summary of how Fusion works....

Fusion - A choir with a difference
For a start, it sings rock and pop music. There are no pre-requisits to joining, it is open to all teenagers. It is a place where youth can not only learn to express themselves, but also learn new skills and abilities. In every concert there is usually somebody singing a solo, playing an instrument in the band, or even conducting the choir for the first time. The dramas and dance are written by the teenagers themselves. The concerts are a means to an end, not an end in themselves.

Key Attributes of Fusion:

• Church - each Fusion group is based in and run by a local church community with the help of the Josiah Venture Fusion team.
• Culture - we reach unchurched youth through music and other media which are a part of their everyday lives.
• Creativity - we are all born with creativity. Fusion seeks to enable youth to draw out hidden abilities and use their creativity to the full.
• Community - each Fusion group should be a place where youth are loved and accepted for who they are, but challenged to look to someone higher for a true and full life.
• Christ - the primary aim of Fusion is to share the Gospel in a relevant and life-changing way so that the youth can make an informed decision for Christ.

About Training Center Kompas

In a Christian evironment characterized by the side effects of legalistic authoritarianism and the after taste of communistic uderstanding of leadership, there is a deep need in the hearts of next generation leaders for encouragement, help, and training. God has brought together a team of innovative young leaders in Kompas Training Center and called them to accomplish the vision of inspiring, helping, and training leaders who can develop the next generation of disciples in Christ’s church.
KECY SK.camps
KECY SK (Kompas English Camp for Youth) is a ministry of TCK tat trains and enables youth groups to organize evangelistic English language camps. Knowing that an average of 40 non-Christian students will attend each camp, our desire is to not only help organize the camp but to prepare each youth grop with training necessary to equip them with a philospohy of ministry that prepares them for an influx of 40 new students. The training involves principles in follow-up discipleship which helps the churches to develop necessary ministries to walk these non-Christian students through the year folowing KECY. Trhough the KECY ministry, TCK also offers an internship program during the summer for Slovak and American college students. Our Kecy director directs KECY SK, working with the American and SLovak churches, as well as with the interns, to coordinate everything necessary for the KECY camps to be effective.
KPM.conference
KPM (Conference for Youth Workers) is TCK’s broadest treining event wihich draws around 700 youth leaders to Zilina each year. Through a tematic approach to specific needs facing youth workers, TCK seeks to encourage and motivate a group of volunteer student youth workers to continue touching the lives of their peers. Many of these youth workers have little or no encouragement from their home churches. KPM introduces them to others who are “crazy” enough to give of their life, gifts, energy, and free time to lead a youth group. This strategic conference involves around 100 volunteers to make it happen. The SPM students work in the development and running of the conference, getting hands/on experience in the skills necessary to orgainze a youth event of this nature.
SPM.school
SPM (School of Leaders), is one-year internship that involves at least one student from each Slovak church that partners for a year in the TCK trining program. The interns meet monthly for a weekend training event taht focuese on ministry skills, tehology, Bible study methods, character development, and leadership development. Students are required to read a number of books, do research projects, and organize evangelistic activities. The training walks the student through a year of youth ministry as they remain in areas of leadership in their home church. Students are required to develop and lead a team doing ministry in the home church. Each student is also in a mentoring relationship with a TCK staff member who disciples him or her throughout the year. This relationship also involves meeting with the home church leadership to evaluate personal and ministry development in the life of the student.
TVT.teams
TVT (Weekend Training for Teams) is a series of training events organized with the extended youth leadership team of each of the SPM students. Under the leadership of Marianna Miskeiova, TVT helps churches develop and understanding of team leadership that can more effectively produce relevant ministry to today’s youth culture. The empowerment that takes place in the lives of these young, new leaders is life changing. An understanidng of the significance of each individual role or gift in the team is something that fransforms their understanding of ministry and leadership for life. Having contact with this extended team throughout the year gives the TCK staff a better understandin of the needs in the SPM student’s life and leadership develop
